Rainwater Tank Styles – What Types are Best for You?

Rainwater Tank Styles - What Types are Best for You

So you are interested in buying a rainwater tank, but perhaps unsure what style of tank to go for? In this article we will take you through some things to consider to help you choose the right tank for your property.

Identifying Good Tank Locations

When buying a rainwater tank for your home, it is important that you first identify reasonable placement locations next to the main roof harvesting area. Take a walk around your house and look at where your downpipes are located.

Rainwater tanks do not need to be placed flush up against an external house wall, but can have piping that extends out from your gutter downpipe or even buried underground. So if you have a path that goes around the side of your house, then your tank could be placed on the outer side of the path.

Corrugated water tanks look quite the part in a garden and come in a variety of colours. If you do not have a fence providing privacy from your neighbours, you could even setup rainwater tanks in a way that provides more privacy in the right area.

Having thought through some locations of tank placement, you are ready to decide upon your style of tank/s.

Property Size and Space

You will obviously need to be realistic when selecting a tank which can fit on your property. Planning and preparation is key to ensuring your tank will not be positioned in an awkward spot.

If your property is quite large, then you likely wouldn’t have any problem fitting in a large round tank. On the other hand, you might be able to fit a slimline tank or two along the side of your house. Keep in mind that they can also create some privacy near your property line if you have limited fencing. Other options for poly tanks include shallow excavation underground tanks.
